Welcome to the Peel Pool website. The Peel Pool Association is a non profit organisation that has been running now for over 35 years. Its main aim is to promote the game of pool and its associated cue sports in the Peel region of Western Australia. We run team competitions throughout most of the year with the main season running throughout the winter months. We also have many other events throughout the year including sending teams upto Perth each year for both the Open Country Week and Womens Country Week events. If you live in the Peel area or surrounding districts and would like to play competitive pool then please get in touch with one of our Committee Members and they will point you in the right direction.
6th March 2014 -- Unfortunately the fixtures are going to have to be redone so I have taken them offline. Hopefully they will be finished by the weekend and I will put them back up again. At this stage we are still starting on the 18th March with the delegates meeting to be held the night before.
27th February 2014 -- Winter fixtures are now online. Season is due to start on the 18th March with a delegates meeting to be held on Monday the 17th March at the Lucky Break Pool Room.
18th February 2014 -- On the weekend Bunbruy proved too strong for us again winning in all four divisions. In first division it was 15 to 12, second division was 16 to 11, third division was 18 to 9 and in fourth division it was 16 to 11. Well done to Bunbury. Big thankyou to Murray Wells for organising it and to the staff at the Commercial Club for making it a great day. Hopefully when we have the next match in Mandurah, Peel can do some winning. Oh and congratulations to Peter Bunter for taking out the second division knockout which was held after the team games.
5th February 2014 -- Sorry one has been a bit quiet of late, getting back into the swing of things. The other night was team nomination night for our winter season and at this stage it appears we have 7 teams in first division and 10 maybe 11 in second. This is excellent and it promises to be a good season.
Also on Saturday the 15th of February there will be a few teams going down to Bunbury. The games will start at 10.00am and are to be held at the Commercial Club. There will be a teams competition between Peel and Bunbury using the same format we play with here followed by a couple of knockouts afterwards. You don't have to stay for the knockouts if you don't wish to. If you are interested in making the trip down to Bunbury to take on a few teams from there then please get in touch with myself or Greg Barnard. You can find our contact details on the Contact Us page.
8th January 2014 -- It is with great sadness that on the 4th of January we lost a valued friend and member of the Peel Pool Association. Bob Hunter was a valued member for over 20 years and also represented our association at country week for just as long! You will be sadly missed Bob! I would like to offer our deepest condolences to all of Bobs family and friends on behalf of all our committee and members! R.I.P. Bob xxx. Donna Haben (President Peel Pool Association)
Bob Hunters funeral will be this Thursday at 1.30pm @ Bowra & O'Dea, 2 Leslie Street, Mandurah. All invited after for drinks at the Silver Sands Tavern.
29th November 2013 -- Our AGM went ahead on Tuesday night as thankfully we had enough numbers. This years Committee will be Donna Haben (President), Erica Keighley (Vice President), Kylie Grenfell (Secretary), Mick Grey (Treasurer), Kevin Higgins (Registrar) and Greg Barnard, Andy Bell and Claire Marsh as the rest of the Committee. Thanks heaps to Gary Kalbus, Peter Bunter, Keith Carter and Jane Parkinson-Jose for the effort they put in with our last Committee.
On the 7th of December the teams that played out of the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre will be having their windup at the centre. It is byo and will start at 3.00 pm. It is also open to anybody who thinks they might like to play out of the centre during the 2014 season so if you are in that position then by all means wander down.
6th November 2013 -- New date for the AGM is Tuesday night the 26th of November. It will be held at the Lucky Break Pool Hall starting at 7.30pm. If you have any notices of motion they must be in a week before. There will also be a dedication to the late Donna Williams (Dondon) which will be held at the start of the meeting. If you can be there that night it would be much appreciated. If you cannot be present but would still like to have a say then you can obtain a proxy form from either Erica Keighley or Donna Haben.
28th October 2013 -- Just a quick heads up that the AGM scheduled for tomorrow has been put on hold for a bit. As soon as I know when it will be held I will let you know. Big congratulations to Sam Hart too for making the Australian Masters Team. I managed to catch a few of Sams games at the recent Nationals in Perth and he we was hitting them very well so I am not surprised. Well done Sam. One was also impressed with how Luke Anglesey's game is just getting better and better, future Australian Champion there. Good to see current and past Peel Pool players doing good. :-)
10th October 2013 -- Forgot to mention yesterday that this years AGM will be held at the Lucky Break Pool Hall on Tuesday the 29th of October starting at 7.30pm. It would be great to see as many members as possible turn up to this so that they can have their say on what goes on within the Association.

11th September 2013 -- Congratulations to Luke Carter (78.41%) for winning this years First Division Top 16. Coming in second was Andy Bell (71.74%) with Darren Morris (70%) taking out third. In the Second Division Top 16 Tournament which was played last night John Broekmeulen (4) proved too strong for Ian Hart (1). Next week will see the First Division Top 16 Tournament which is to be played at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. Again I recommend those players who finished 17th and 18th to attend as they will get a game if players who finished in the Top 16 cannot make it.
Next week will also see the start of the Second Division finals series. In the top section the Hammerheads will host Sands Black at the Mandurah Indoor Sportz Centre in the First Elimination Final and the Breakers Hawks will host the Mongrels at the Lucky Break Pool Hall in the Second Elimination Final. 7th September 2013 -- Results from Tuesday night are up. Second Division Top 16 is now decided. Ian Hart (80.90%) came out on top after a great battle with Allen Mills (80.52%). 1st September 2013 -- Right everything is now upto date. This coming Tuesday night there is still one game to finalise the Second Division ladder between the Top Dogz and the Snipers. This will be played at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. For the rest of Second Division it is a general bye though if you are interested in playing there will be a knockout organised at the Lucky Break Pool Hall if there is enough interest. This year there will also be a final series for the teams that didn't finish in the top 5 of Second Division. After this weeks game I will announce more details regarding this as well as all the details of the main Second Division Finals Series.
The following week (10th September) is the Second Division Top 16 tournament which again will be played at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. I would recommend that the players who finished 17th and 18th on the list turn up in case any players from the Top 16 cannot make the night. If one player is missing 17th will get a game, two players missing both will get a game.
31st August 2013 -- Ok, finally I have completed the first week I missed. You will find the results up for games played on the 20th of August now. I will get the results up for the 27th of August either today or tomorrow. Thanks for your patience. :-)
20th August 2013 -- On Saturday we had the third running of the Forest Highway Challenge between teams from Peel Pool and Bunbury and for the first time Peel Pool came out on top with an impressive win across all divisions resulting in a final frame scoreline of 71 to 37. There were two knockouts held afterwards with Troy Forrester from Bunbury beating Tony Neville (Peel Pool) in the first/second division knockout and Rod Gillies (Peel Pool) beating Kylie Grenfell (Peel Pool) in the third/fourth division knockout. It was a really enjoyable day and I would like to thank all the people who put their hands up to help with the cooking of the barbecue. It was much appreciated. One is looking forward to the return match in Bunbury which will be held later on in the year. :-)
Just a heads up that the results from our local pool to be held tonight will be delayed when it comes to putting them on the website. I will be in Melbourne for a few days and upon return will be doing nightshifts. I will endeavour to get them up as soon as possible after that.
17th August 2013 -- Tuesday night saw Sam Hart (4) defeat Darren Morris (0) in the Open Singles and on Wednesday night Andy Bell and Claire Marsh won the Mixed Doubles Round Robin. Well done guys/gals. :-) This years Womens Carnival will be held on the 28th and 29th of September. If you are interested in playing could you please get your nomination in to Erica Keighley by the 27th of August.
8th August 2013 -- All upto date again. Next week we have the Open Singles on the Tuesday night and the Mixed Doubles on the Wednesday night. Both events will be held at the Lucky Break Pool Hall starting at 7.00 pm. Also there are only a few spots left for the upcoming Forest Highway Challenge against Bunbury so if you are interested in playing then please get in touch with me asap. Players from Bunbury will start turning up around 10am so if you are playing could you please be down there around then, thanks. :-)

21st July 2013 -- Everything is upto date again. Sorry about the delay, work commitments. :-)

Open Doubles Winners. (left to right) Keith Carter and Jeff Carter.
5th July 2013 -- Everything is updated again. Next week we have the Open Doubles at the Lucky Break Pool Hall starting at 7.00pm. You will also notice if you look at the Top 16's that I have started to remove players that cannot qualify for the Top 16. For those that are not aware you must play at least half of the available singles games during the regular season to qualify. As we are now over the half way point players get to the point where they do not have enough games left in the season to make the required number of games needed, hence I remove them from the main list.
Also as we have quite a few senior members in the Association you will find below a flyer for the State Masters Tournament which is coming up soon. So if you are interested and can play that weekend check out all the details on the flyer below.
27th June 2013 -- I have updated this weeks results. The match between the Top Dogz and the Snipers has been rescheduled. It will be played on the general bye that Second Division has on the 3rd September.
21st June 2013 -- Everything is updated again after this weeks games. After next weeks games any player who has played more than five weeks and is unfinancial still will not score any games towards the team score and the Top 16. Their games will be treated like a forfeit. So bottomline folks pay up if your membership is due or you will be letting your team down big time.
19th June 2013 -- Finally last weeks results are up. Sorry for the delay. The Association would like to wish Sam Hart all the best with the World Championships which are due to start in England soon. Sam is going as Manager of the Masters and Junior Teams. If you would like to keep up with all the action from the World Championships goto the World Eightball Pool Federation website. You will also find a link to them in the Links section of this website.
14th June 2013 -- Our Treasurer Peter Bunter has asked me to put this on the website. "Hi you guys, will you please put on the respective sites, preferably where the scores normally go, that I am late with the results this week as I am sorting out all players and teams that are not financial. Five (5) weeks was the given grace to have them in by. On June 25th it will be week Fourteen (14). Take note that all teams and players in teams that are not financial by THE CLOSE OF PLAY on June 25th, will forfeit all premiership points from that date until all outstanding monies are paid. Captains of teams, or with players in their teams, who are affected by this will be notified.....and no excuses will be entertained!!" So if you are not financial or know of people in your team that are not financial can you please contact Peter Bunter and sort it out. In the meantime as soon as I get the results I will endeavour to get them to you as soon as possible.
I have in the meantime uploaded all the results from this years Country Week Championship. There are also quite a few pictures that have been uploaded as well. Just goto the Country Week link to check them out.
5th June 2013 -- Although it wasn't our best year at Country Week the Peel Pool Association was still successful in three divisions. Our Second division team won their division with Jeremy Bower topping the singles averages winning 13 out of 16 frames. Our Fifth division team ended up runners up with Wayne Carter and Ryan Farr topping the averages with 11 out of 16 frames. Our Sixth division team was successful winning their respective division. Peel also took out Ninth division with Rod Gillies leading the way in the singles averages with 14 out of 16 frames. We also came runner ups in Tenth division with Donna Haben winning the singles averages with an impressive 15 out of 16 frames. All in all not a bad effort. Well done to all the players that went up and played. I will hopefully receive the full player stats and results from Adrian Lancaster soon and will put them up on the website here. Erica Keighley also took many great pictures on the weekend and when time permits I will also upload them to the website. In the meantime there is quite a bit of information and photos from the weekend on our Facebook page if you wish to have a look.
Last night we had the Masters Tournament and the Womens Singles. In the Masters, Sam Hart (4) proved too strong for Keith Carter (2). In the Womens Singles the ladies played a round robin format and Janet Bartlett (103 points) came out on top with Jane Parksinson Jose (92 points) second. Well done guys and gals. :-)

18th May 2013 -- Ladders etc are upto date again. Over the last week or so there have been a couple of mistakes on my behalf when up dating the ladders and top 16's so please don't hesitate to contact me if you think that something is wrong. Thanks to Kevin Higgins for pointing out a mistake that I made with his stats. :-)
Also I received an email from the Committee to say that Junior Memberships (players under 16) would have their memberships set to just $50.00. Hopefully this might encourage a few more juniors to parcipate which is a good move. If you are playing today at the tournament that Janet Bartlett has organised at the Lucky Break Pool Hall one will see you down there. I am pretty sure that Janet had full numbers for second division but there may be a spot or two left in furst division so if you would like to play then contact her. And finally I would like to wish our ex President Erica Keighley a happy birthday. :-)
12th May 2013 -- Everything is updated again. There will be a memorial service held for Donna Williams on Friday the 7th of June starting at 9.00 am at the Pinjarra Civic Centre which is located next to the Shire Offices in Pinjarra. There will be drinks etc afterwards at the Premier Hotel.
6th May 2013 -- All updated again. Thanks to everyone who donated on Tuesday night, it is very much appreciated. This was posted by Donna Haben on the Facebook page the other day. "The Peel Pool Association would like to thank everybody for their generosity tonight with their donations! If anyone else would like to make donations during the next couple of days please contact me on 0408 076 176 to contribute to the Donna Williams fund! Thanks again members and friends. On behalf of the committee Donna Haben, Vice President."
Also on Saturday the 18th of May there will a 16 Player Graded Knockout for both First and Second Division. This will be held at the Lucky Break Pool Hall and will commence at 4pm. There will be prize money on offer for both Divisions and also a few lucky dip and door prizes throughout the night. If you wish to put your name down to be a part of this then contact Janet Bartlett on 0409 486 263 before Thursday the 16th of May. It will be strictly 16 players per Division so if you wish to play contact Janet asap.
2nd May 2013 -- I am still waiting for the results from Tuesday nights games but I did receive this from Kevin Higgins (via Adrian Lancaster) regarding the results of the Pool Tournament held at Miss Q's on the weekend. "2013 Inaugural $10,000 LP Cues 8-Ball Open. What a great tournament! Congratulations to Alan Brown winner of the inaugural $10,000 LP Cues 8-Ball Open, Alan defeated a gallant Luke Carter in the Grand Final 6-5. Matt Bolton finished 3rd, Luke Foster finished 4th and Steve Saxon & Ron Kelly finished equal 5th. The Friday night "B" Grade players knockout was won by Stuart Kingsbury defeating Damien Stenhouse in the Final. The Consolation Knockout was won by Jason Dimer who defeated Sam Hart in the Final. Miss Q's was a great venue for a competition of this size. Major sponsor for the competition was LP Cues and their national distributor, The Pool Table Man. Matthew Bolton (manager). LP Cues 8-Ball Open will definitely become an annual event. Peel Pool Association players that made the top 32 were: Darren Morris, Luke Carter, Keith Carter, Tony Neville and Mark Selvey. Well done to all players that played in this competition to make it success and I can't wait for next year!"
27th April 2013 -- It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing away of Donna Williams this morning our time. I was so fortunate to know Dondon for many a year and will miss her heaps and heaps. It was a pleasure to work with her on Committee. Donna Haben (Vice President) just posted these words on Facebook and I thought it only right to put them on here. "All the Peel Pool Association committee and past and present members would like to offer their condolences to the family and friends of Donna Williams. Donna will be greatly missed with her bright and bubbly manner and her commitment to making the game of pool so much fun! We thank her for her dedication and hard work in making the Peel Pool Association very successful as a long running committee member and player! You will be forever in our hearts Don Don xxx RIP"
24th April 2013 -- Results from the Grade Doubles played last night. In First Division, Darren Morris and Andy Bell (3) defeated Peter Bunter and Bob Rhodes (0) and in Second Division, Ian Hart and Bevan Shepherd (3) defeated Donna Haben and Liz Powell (1). Well done guys/gals.
On a bit of a sadder note one of the Associations most loyal servants past away. Life Member Charlie Spiers was an integral part of pool in the Peel area for years and years and the Association would like to extend our sympathy to Charlies family. Ex President of the Association Phil Barry put forward these words today. "In 1987 I was fortunate enough to play pool for the Brighton hotel in Mandurah. it was then that I met Charlie Spiers. He was not only a pretty good pool player, but he was also a mentor to younger players like myself. I was fortunate to play in many grand finals with him, winning some and losing some, but it was all a great experience. Not only was he a good player, but a true gentleman of the sport. And a bloody good sense of humour to go with it. All this time Charlie was preparing tables for the association all around the district, and doing a great job at it. Even in his later years he was still preparing great quality tables for players. Especially on grand final days at the Sands. In the period of my presidency of the association, if I asked Charlie for anything, he always came through. Such a reliable gentleman to call on at all times. Charlie is one Life Member of our association that has truly been there from start up until his unfortunate passing. RIP my friend, you will be missed by many players and friends, but mostly I'm sure by your loving wife Kathy."
This weekend there is a large tournament being held at Miss Q's. In total there will be 80 players involved including most of the best players in the State. Peel Pool is well represented with 10 players having a go.......Darren Morris, Keith Carter, Mark Selvey, Tony Neville, Matt Gilmore, Kim Buchholz, Sam Hart, Luke Carter, Andy Bell and Kevin Higgins. The matches will run over the Saturday and Sunday so if you are doing nothing then wander down and have a look. There are a few knockouts being held on the Friday night which are open to anyone who feels like a game so if you are interested in playing let me know (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I will put you through to Adrian Lancaster who is running the show.
18th April 2013 -- Everything is upto date again after Tuesday nights results. Memberships are becoming due and need to be paid. If you need time to pay them please get in touch with our Treasurer Peter Bunter. You can find his contact details here. Also next week we have the Grade Doubles. If you haven't already nominated and would like to play then please make sure your nominations are in by 6.30 pm on the Tuesday night as that is when the draws are being done.
12th April 2013 -- All upto date again. As some of you would be aware our Facebook page has become more active over the last few weeks which is awesome to see. Big thankyou to Kevin Higgins. Kevin even went to the trouble of uploading all the pictures from the website here to our facebook page so if you use Facebook, like the Association and feel free to upload any old pictures you may have. :-)
4th April 2013 -- Everything is updated again. Bit quicker this week hey. ;-)
2nd April 2013 -- G,day. Hope everyone had a good Easter break. I am just in the process of updating the website after last weeks games. Hopefully everything is right but as usual if you do spot a mistake could you let me know. For those that don't know me you can contact me by emailing email@example.com
22nd March 2013 -- Just in case you have already looked at the fixtures please note that there have been a few adjustments made. Hopefully everything is right now. ;-)
21st March 2013 -- Winter fixtures are now up.
27th February 2013 -- Hi all. Nominations have been received for the upcoming winter season and at this stage there is 6 first division teams and 10 second division teams. The season looks like it will get away on the last Tuesday of March or that is what a little birdie told me last night anyway. When I know more I will put it up here. I also saw the old first division shield has reappeared and has been given a good scrub up too as you can see from the picture below. One is off to Geraldton this weekend for the annual pilgramage up the coast for the Rossi Boots tournament. There are a few players from Peel venturing up there and with a bit of luck we can bring back some of the prizes on offer. ;-)
Also if you are interested in what is happening this year in regards to the West Australian Eightball Federation you will find a copy of their 2013 Calendar of Events here.
First Division Shield.
12th January 2013 -- Sorry there hasn't been anything put up here for a while, I am blaming the silly season. I hope everyone had a good xmas and new year. :-) Finally after an initial hiccup we managed to get the AGM out of the way. Normal story on the first attempt with a lack of numbers present. In the end there were significant changes made to the committee for this coming winter season. First of all one would like to thank all the committee members who have stood down, especially our long running President Erica Keighley. She has done an amazing job whilst at the helm and we wish her all the best for the future.
This year will see Gary Kalbus (President) take over the reins along with Donna Haben (Vice President), Peter Bunter (Treasurer and Registrar), Donna Williams (Secretary) with the rest of the Committee being Keith Carter, Jane Parksinson-Jose and Claire Marsh. Congratulations to all those elected.
Our team trip down to Bunbury was a great success again. Many thanks to all who attended and to Murray Wells and the Commercial Club in Bunbury for making it a great day. Unfortunately Bunbury proved too strong again taking out the overall teams event but we did manage to beat their first division team again, ;-). Look forward to hosting Bunbury again later on in the year and hopefully we can finally beat them.
Currently in Adelaide there is the Australian Eight Ball Junior Nationals taking place. Mikey Read, who has played with the Peel Pool Association on a few occasions, is currently there doing his best for Western Australia. Well done to Mikey on making the State Junior Team and we wish you all the best in the Nationals. I have tried to locate a website to view results but have had no luck. If anybody knows of where the results can be found can they let me know and I will post it here for everyone to see.
Don't forget that if you are chasing a game of pool at the moment there is a Summer Team Competition going on at the Lucky Break Pool Hall on a Tuesday night. Even though it is underway just rock on down there and there will be no problem in slotting you into a team. Gary also has other competitions going on during the week and there are always the Association tables which are open to members at any time if you just want to practise.

Well done guys. :-)
Please remember this years AGM on the 8th of November. It will be a big meeting as there are likely to be major changes to the committee and it would be great to see as many members as possible there so they can vote and have their say on the future of the Association. There is also a Summer Competition which has just started at the Lucky Break Pool Hall on a Tuesday night so if you are lost and would like a game then wander down and you will be placed into a team.

Second Division Top 16 Tournament Finalists
Peter Bunter and Adrian Morton.
8th September 2012 -- All updated again. You will find the results from the two Second Division games on the date they should have been played, that is the 12th of June. Next week is the Second Division Top 16 Tournament which is to be played at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. The two players who finished 17th and 18th are encouraged to attend because if there are any from the Top 16 list who don't attend they can be included.
30th August 2012 -- Updated again. Congratulations to Darren Morris and Luke Anglesey for their efforts in making the State Open Team this year. Awesome effort guys. :-)
26th August 2012 -- As usual apologies for the delay in updating the website. ;-)
15th August 2012 -- Last night was the Open Singles. Congratulations to Sam Hart who defeated Allen Kukura in the final. Also the Country Playoffs for possible State selection are being held on Saturday the 25th of August. If you wish to play then please get in touch so we can pass the information onto Adrian. You can read about it on the forum here.
12th August 2012 -- Sorry for the delay in updating, work commitments again. There was a protest heard earlier on in the week and the end result of that was that both the Lucky Ducks and Scuba Squad would receive one point each for the game that was scheduled to be played on the 12th of June. Also if there are any ladies interested in playing in Ladies Country Week can they please get in touch with Erica.
3rd August 2012 -- Updated again.
27th July 2012 -- Everything from Tuesday nights games is updated again. Congratulations to Sam Hart on making the State Masters team again this year. Unfortunately Keith Carter didn't make it though he did really well in finishing 6th overall and is still a chance of playing depending on any withdrawals from the team.
23rd July 2012 -- Well all in all Saturday's game against Bunbury was fairly successful. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. In the team games Bunbury proved too strong overall winning 60 frames to 48 frames. Peel won the first two divisions 14 - 13 and 15 - 12 but were soundly beating in the two lower divisions 10 - 17 and 9 - 18. We are planning to have a return match in Bunbury so hopefully we can bring that scoreline back to our favour. There were two knockouts held after the team event with Greg Hunter and Brian Rodgers calling a truce and splitting the money in the top one whilst Bob Hunter took out the lower one. A big thankyou must go out to Gary Kalbus for his hospitality and to the Bunbury players for making the trip here. It was a bit disappointing to see a lot of the Peel players leave after the team events and hopefully when we travel to Bunbury to play that wont happen. Also a big thankyou to Murray Wells for his work in making this happen. :-)
20th July 2012 -- Results are up again. I have started trimming the Top 16 lists by dropping players who can no longer qualify. To qualify for the Top 16 Tournament at the end of the season you must play at least half of the singles games available to you throughout the season. For First Division this works out to 40 games and for Second Division it is 45 games. As such I have been through the players and worked out whether they can make that by how many games are left available to them. If you fail to qualify at the end of the season due to a forfeit throughout the season then this will be taken into consideration.
Also this Saturday the 21st of July we will be hosting 4 teams from the Bunbury area at the Lucky Break Pool Hall. This will be kicking off around 10.30 to 11.00. There will be team games to start the day off followed by a knockout afterwards. There will be a sausage sizzle in between the two events. At this stage the teams are pretty well covered however if you would like to play in the knockout then come on down around 2.00. It would be great to see members to down there to support our home of pool.
11th July 2012 -- Last night was the Open Doubles. Winners were Andy Bell and Darren Morris (4) who defeated Mick Grey and Lee Small (1) in the final. Well done guys, too good. ;-)
5th July 2012 -- All upto date again. I have again included a couple of games that were finalised from the missed matches on the 12th of June. There are still three games from Second Division that need to be sorted. Next week is the Open Doubles and again as I receive nominations I will put them on the forum. Also a big congrats to the Angels who managed to win their first game of the season. Well done. :-)
